Reading for the masses – SABIA opens its first not-for-profit community library!

Growing out of a simple campaign initiated by two girls of Kota, Rajasthan, SABIA has now expanded to 6 cities with a team of over 150 Youth Leaders in 45 schools, impacting over 5000 childhoods in just two years of its operations.

It gives us immense joy to inform you all that on this World Book Day(April 23, 2019), we inaugurated our Head Office and first not-for-profit community library in Kota.

The library was inaugurated by the students of one of our associate schools located in Talwandi, Kota amidst great excitement. It was the first time for the children inside a real library. The community library called ‘June’s Book Bank’ shall serve the purpose of a welcoming and safe community space for people of different ages who wish to read.

An interesting fact to note is that the collection of books inside the library is entirely from the book donations we received last year during our All India Diwali Book Drive where people from across 42 cities in 19 states and UTs came forward to support the cause. This drive was covered on the national level by The Hindu newspaper in acknowledgment of our success in collecting over 17,500 books from all over India.

These same books are now being put to use by us for the good of our community through the newly opened library. Not to forget, we would like to express our gratitude to our team of dedicated volunteers who made it possible for us to acquire such a diverse collection of books. Now every time someone comes in and picks up a book of their choice, we can say with affirmation that 'Everyone is a reader, they just need to find the right book.'

Thankfully, at June's Book Bank we have all the right kind of books!
