On Saturday our volunteers joined forces with another NGO, Slam Out Loud and conducted a story session on selfless service. The theme for the session was on nature (being the greatest giver) to resonate with the whole essence of the Daan Utsav/ joy of giving week. Our volunteers in Kota, Delhi, Mumbai and Pune narrated stories on selfless service to celebrate Daan Utsav. The kids where shown videos and asked to interpret and write about their idea of giving back. The kids came up with heart-warming ideas on how they wanted to help others who are in need
On Sunday, SABIA put up a stall in Raahgiri (Paschim Vihar) to connect with the masses. Share a Book, India Association (SABIA) had a beautiful donation box for people to donate their preloved story books along with a couple of books lined up in hope to exchange them with by-walkers.
The zestful members appealed to many. By-walkers enthralled with the movement, brought old books and textbooks from their homes to be donated in the adopted schools and those who came from afar, exchanged contact information in hope to donate and contribute their share in this reading campaign. One kind person helped with monetary donation to buy picture books for the children. A day for citizens to celebrate free roads became a day of celebration for SABIA as the road to freedom for us is paved with books.
